      <description>LEWISTON, Maine - After two fruitful years as the head coach of the Bates College baseball team, Edwin Thompson has resigned in order to accept an assistant coaching position at Duke University. Thompson submitted his resignation on Wednesday, and on Monday Duke announced his hiring as the Blue Devils' recruiting coordinator and outfield coach.</description>

Duncan (Topsham, Maine) has been invited to an awards dinner on Oct. 17 in Indianapolis, where the winner will be announced.</description>

      <title>Soccer Standings to be Based on Points Beginning in 2010</title>

      <description>HADLEY, Mass. - The NESCAC has changed how conference standings will be computed for both men's and women's soccer. Beginning in the fall of 2010, NESCAC standings will be sorted based on points, with three points awarded for each victory and one point awarded for a draw in conference play. Prior to this fall, conference standings had been based on conference winning percentage.</description>

      <title>Williams Named ECAC Jostens Institution of the Year</title>

      <description>CAPE COD, Mass. - Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced Monday that Williams College has been selected as the winner of the 2010 ECAC Jostens Institution of the Year award. The award is given annually to the ECAC institution that best exemplifies the highest standards of collegiate academic and athletic performance. Williams has previously won the award in 1995, 1999, 2001, 2004, and 2009. With six crowns in the 16-year history of the award, Williams has won the award more than any other institution.</description>

      <description>WATERVILLE, Maine - Justin Domingos was part of a winner as a player and assistant coach for Gettysburg College and hopes to bring that winning mentality into the job as the new head coach of the Colby College men's lacrosse team. Domingos, who was successful helping to run three programs as a college assistant, will be a head coach for the first time. He will start his new job at Colby in late August and will take the sidelines for the first time as head coach in March.</description>

Dartmouth President Jim Yong Kim and Acting Dean of the College Sylvia Spears announced Sheehy's appointment on Tuesday.</description>

Shapiro replaces Carl Junot, who was hired at Tufts in April, but then left to become the head coach at Harvard University.</description>
