SALEM, Va. Blake Schultz of Williams is the 2010 recipient of the Jostens Trophy. The annual awards recognize outstanding student-athletes in NCAA Division III basketball for excellence in the classroom, on the playing court and in the community. Schultz was chosen by a national selection committee that consists of college coaches, former athletes, college administrators and selected members of the media. The members of the national selection committee cast their votes based on three criteria: basketball ability, academic prowess and community service.

HADLEY, Mass. Williams College advanced to the sectional round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament on Saturday evening with an 83-64 victory over Maine-Farmington. The Ephs, who earned a first round bye, were led by senior guard Alex Rubin (Chevy Chase, Md.), who scored 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting (.545) and a 5-of-8 performance from beyond the arc (.625). Williams will now host one of four sectional rounds this coming weekend.
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. Leading by 15 at the half, Rhode Island College shot .520 from the floor in the second half to hold off Middlebury on its way to a 75-59 win over the Panthers in Pepin Gym. The Anchormen (22-7) advance to next weekends round of 16 at Williams, while the Panthers (25-4) end their season with a school-record for wins.
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. Williams College used the three-ball in the second half (8-12) and perfect foul shooting down the stretch (8-8) to knock of Maine-Farmington 83-64 in a Second Round game tonight in Chandler Gym. With the win Williams improved to 27-1 on the year and won its 18th straight game. The 18 wins equals a Williams in-season record set by the 2003-04 Ephs. UMF, which opened the season with eight consecutive losses, saw its six-game win streak end and the Beavers finish with a record of 15-12.
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. Middlebury advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals after a 64-57 win over Gordon College in Pepin Gym. The win is the first NCAA Tournament victory for the Panthers, who will battle Rhode Island College, a 72-60 winner over Rutgers-Newark, on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. The victory gives the Panthers their school-record 25th of the season, against just three losses. Gordon ends its season with a 24-5 mark.
